Powder that is broadcast onto a concrete surface that provides a bond breaker for the stamp, as well as a secondary color.
Aggregate
The component in concrete that is bound with Portland cement. Common aggregates in concrete are sand, limestone, pea gravel, and in decorative applications, glass.
Acid Stain
Acid stain is a mix of inorganic salt, water, and acid. The chemical reaction that is produced from the mix of ingredients poured onto the concrete is what creates the artistic design. The acid stain reacts with the existing free lime found in the concrete to produce a modeled appearance
Acetone
A solvent. Acetone is used as the carrier solvent in new VOC compliant sealers. It can also be mixed with powdered pigment to create a concrete dye. Dye N Seal acetone based dyes utilize the solvents ability to penetrate and dry/flash quickly to color concrete.
Accelerator
An admixture used to speed up the set time of concrete. Calcium chloride is a main accelerant but it often discolors decorative concrete. NCA (Non-Chloride Accelerator) is mainly used in decorative work because it speeds up set time without discoloring the concrete.
