Effectively Blend Color Hardeners

Are you already using multiple color hardeners on your projects but not achieving a natural blend of the colors? Or maybe you are wanting to add that extra flare to your work but unsure how to do it? In nature you will notice most the rocks and stones are variegated in color so you will want to replicate this with your stamped concrete.

First you broadcast the base/main color on the wet concrete surface. After floating in this first broadcast, you are ready to add some highlights. Have the base/main color handy when broadcasting the highlight color(s). Broadcast the secondary color(s) randomly, or in areas you are looking to highlight. Don't float this color in quite yet. Use the base/main color and broadcast to fill in the areas where the secondary color did not cover. Now you can float in your second broadcast of color hardeners. By using the base/main color hardener with the highlight color hardener you will achieve a nice blending of colors. You can also float the surface in different directions to move the colors into each other.

With the antique release agent your surface will have a third dimension thus giving the stones a very natural coloring. To make sure your job really stands out, check out our post about "How to Reduce Sealer Failure on Stamped Concrete".
